A Walk Around the Craft Room

When I am not busy with cleaning, cooking, family book-keeping, running errands, taking care of all the stuff of starting a new business, tending to the quail, washing clothes and hanging them out on the line, etc., I am in my craft room weaving, knitting, and making book marks to get ready for our first market.  Every so often my craft room is CLEAN.  It was for 30 15 5 minutes last week.  Really.  I promise.  Today?  Not so much.  I thought I would show you what is going on in there right now.  Are you brave?

It's a little hard to open the door because of the stuff behind it

Dress form with 2 new shawls, and a bassinet I scored at a yard sale for displaying the baby blankets.  A flamingo hanger with a bag of yarn, some weaving directions, and a sweatshirt for cooler mornings.

Just beyond that we have an incubator on the floor (it has too many hot and cold spots to be used with eggs we purchased), and incubator on the book shelf with it's humidity system (also too many hot and cold spots).  Doesn't everyone keep incubators in their craft room??  We used to incubate in the living area but cats.  That is NOT a picture of a marijuana leaf on the wall, it is a picture my precious Aunt Roberta colored for me.  Also a picture of Nancy and I at our last annual Christmas Market in Birmingham, and a picture my bestie gave me which her artist daughter drew years ago.

Over here on the desk by the window we have the currently active Brinsea incubator (no hot and cold spots), the blanket on the chair we use to insulate it when it gets too cool in the room, and the detritus of finishing a project on the loom.  And no, the Siesta Key Rum bottle is not part of the detritus, it is the humidity system for the Brinsea.  It is filled with distilled water.  Really.

On the floor by the desk we have yarn, an antique knitting basket, a cap (if I have to run out of the room and answer the door and I'm having a bad hair day) (which is a LOT of days), and a random plastic bag.

Those wooden bits sticking up in the corner are pieces of the loom.  I reconfigure the loom depending on if I want a 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 foot piece.

More yarn and other bits and pieces.  No.  It is not possible to have "too much".  Don't go there.

For a few more weeks this room also serves as an office.  So file cabinets, printers, and a hanger with going-to-the-beach supplies (and after being this transparent with you I think I need to go-to-the-beach!)

Finally, in case you think this is all mess and no work, here is the piece I took off the loom this week.

In case you are wondering, the wall hangings include (left to right) a quote from E. Nesbit's House of Arden series, Geoffrey the giraffe who helps me with advice (whether I want his input or not!), a Lenten prayer, and St. Michael done by Southern Saint Designs.

And that's my mess.  Today?  Today I must bring order out of chaos, both in this room and the rest of the house.  If y'all don't hear from me by Tuesday send help.  And chocolate!
