A Walk In the Garden
Let's go for a walk and see what's going on outside. It's been raining ~ Finally! ~ so the ground is a bit soggy; you might want some shoes you don't mind getting muddy.
Cletus got some tilling done. The bundle of weeds are from pulling up landscape fabric. They will go to compost. We'll be planting carrots and (hopefully) potatoes in this area soon.
As you can see, the garlic is doing wonderfully well! I'll still have to buy some by the end of next year, but this will help.
The okra is still going. I am not crazy about okra but the flowers are beautiful.
I will dry those pods you see under the flowers and grind them to powder to use for flavoring in gumbos. I might even try some in dirty rice.
We are keeping watch on these bananas.
Over in the front yard my loquat tree is finally blooming after 3 years! You may not be familiar with loquat as they are impossible to find unless you or a friend have a tree. I love them and I am happy I might get a fruit or two this next year.
And on the front porch the gnome is keeping an eye on the blooming hibiscus. Yes, it has been unseasonably warm, even for the coast.
Have a wonderful weekend!
