More Eggs?!

Last month we had a conversation about our current covey of quail.  Because we want to get the business up and going at full steam as soon as we can, we decided we just don't have enough in our current breeder group.  We could limp along and possibly be where we want to be with full production by Spring, but we decided to give this a little jump start.

We ordered 60 hatching eggs from Zack and Jenna at MyShire Farm.  There was a little delay with USPS but the eggs are here!!!

We ordered 60, they sent 64.  Because generous is the way they do things at MyShire

And yes, I am wearing my new Pumpkin Socks.  Thanks for noticing!

Pumpkins aside, we will be setting eggs in the incubator later today (it's good to let them sit and recover from the shipping process.  I'm the same way when I get shipped, foam protector or not).  (No, they do not make them in my size).

Incubation period is 16-17 days for quail so by November 30th we should have a hatch going on here ~ I can't think of a better way to spend that day! ~ and by January 30th they should be laying.
