To Market, To Market...

Do you have a local Farmer's Market where you live?

We do.  We have been visiting it regularly since we moved here, and even a time or two before we moved.

Our market is a community.  We have gotten to know some wonderful people who are vendors there.  If you have noticed the left-hand side of the blog it lists "Helpful (and Wonderful!) People and Places".  Most of those listed are vendors at our local market, The Coastal Alabama Farmer's and Fishermens Market, or CAFFM.

We have talked to the Market Manager in the past about possibly selling some of our things there, both garden produce and artsy-craftsy things.  We did not realize at that point the hurdles of setting up a business.  We did know that with Cletus working full-time (the job which has provided health insurance) we could not do this as well.

Things have changed.

Two weeks ago I submitted an application to be a vendor at the market for the Christmas Night Market.  A few days later the manager called me, we talked, and she said she would have space for us.  Saturday we went and finalized things with her and we are really, truly doing this on Thursday, December 5th from 5-8 pm.  Um, that's 23 days away.  Which makes me a wee bit anxious about getting my act together and having enough goods to sell by then!

We will have a variety of items:

Beaded bookmarks

Strawberry jam

Pepper jellies (varying degrees of heat)

Home-made English muffins

Quail eggs

A few Ghost peppers

Hand-knit baby blankets

And of course, shawls.  Most woven on the 5 foot loom but a few of the 6 and 7 foot as well.

5 foot loom; one of my favorites

7-foot loom; also one of my favorites

Both of the shawls pictured and the baby blanket will be available at the market.

Now if you will excuse me, I am going to go knit until I fall asleep!
