It was a busy weekend getting ready for our week of winter.

We did get everything done we could think of to do to protect the quail, the garden, and the home.

The snow began Tuesday morning and we are were expecting up to 4 inches.  I am still shaking my head about this.

I messaged Aaron Guidroz of Guidroz Family Farms.  They are in Louisiana south of New Orleans (did you catch that? SOUTH of NOLA).

The Guidroz family ready for the weather!

He said they are expecting up to 8 inches making it  the biggest snow event since the 1800s.  This will be their first snow since 1989.

We are indoors and at this point our trips out will be to check on the animals, replace frozen water containers, and dash back inside where it is warm (giving thanks for a brick house).

The National Weather Service in Mobile just posted an update; we are no longer expecting up to 4 inches; it is now up to 6.

So what do we do when the weather keeps us indoors?

Cletus, of course, is perusing gardening books and seed catalogs.  There is good jazz in the background.

I am working on finishing up his Christmas gift (I'm a lifetime member of Procrastinator's Anonymous) (if I can ever get that membership form mailed off).

I'm working on my 7-foot triloom making two triangles I can stitch together for a large square.  The first 50 rows of the first triangle took me weeks to get done (since before Christmas) but once we got everything prepped and ready around the house for this weather, I got in the work room and got 'er done.  Over the weekend I finished the first triangle, straightened all my rows and columns, and chained off the two sides.

It would be done if he were a different shape...

On Monday I got 50 rows done on the second triangle

I am hoping to get that finished by Wednesday so I can join the two triangles together by the weekend.  When the weather warms up.

Wherever you may happen to be ~ in this mess or out of it ~ curl up with some hot cocoa, a snuggly blankie, and enoy the pictures!

Pippin thought he would like the snow.  Until Cletus carried him outside to experience it.  Now he knows; indoors watching is better!

I love the look of snow on cedars

Winter wardrobe is a bit hit-or-miss around here!

There will be a snowman on the front porch.  I'll add pictures.

Stay warm, my friends!
