Weekending

Since January, we have been able to be a part of our local Farmer's Market every weekend on Saturdays.  We enjoy this and appreciate the opportunity.  We not only get to sell our farm goods (including quail eggs and now quail meat), but also any craft goods I have been able to complete through the week.

Yet a weekly farmer's market does keep us busy through the end of the week and the weekend in prep, market, and the afterwards.  Friday is spent baking English Muffins, loading up, making lists (and checking them thrice!), and general prep work.  Saturday is spent at the market from around 7:45 am until after 2, followed by several hours work after that.

So by the time Sunday arrives, we are quite ready for a rest after church!

This week we decided to go down to the beach after our PLNs (post-liturgical naps).  We have started going to Johnson Beach in Florida.  It is a beautiful part of the Gulf Islands National Park and the traffic is much lighter than the other beaches in the area.

As we drove over in the late afternoon I remembered that the Blue Angels were due to fly home from Ft. Lauderdale.  They usually do a "Beach Buzz" over Pensacola Beach on their way home from the air shows.  Since they were coming in from the Southeast and we were southwest of NAS Pensacola, I did not have high hopes of getting to see this particular Beach Buzz.  I knew they were expected around 4:45-5:30 so when it got to be 6:00 and we were ready to head home, I figured we had missed them.  As we got to the car and were loading up our chairs, I stopped to speak to a couple of young ladies beside us when suddenly there was a ROAR overhead.  There they were, flying low and trailing smoke!

Cletus and I decided to walk back down to the beach to catch them making the pass back to the station.  We saw them flying back and when we got back to the car we caught them doing their turn for landing.

I don't know about you, but catching an impromptu air show by the Blue Angels is a lovely way to end a busy weekend in my opinion!
